1. Exported Photos Look Blurry or Pixelated
Cause: JPEG compression defaults to 85–90% quality, or bicubic downsizing softened fine edges.
Fix: In the Save dialog, slide JPEG Quality to 100%. If the image contains text or UI screenshots, save as PNG instead of JPG. After resizing a 4000px camera photo down to 1000px, apply Filter → Sharpen → 1 or 2.
2. iPhone HEIC Photos Won't Open
Cause: Windows does not ship with the HEVC/HEIF codec pre-installed on all editions.
Fix: Install the free HEIF Image Extensions from Microsoft, or use PhotoScape X on macOS/Windows 11 which hooks into the OS media foundation decoder.
3. Canon .CR3 or Newer Mirrorless RAW Files Show a Black Box
Cause: PhotoScape 3.7's internal dcraw table predates the Canon CR3 container format.
Fix: Convert `.CR3` files using Adobe's free DNG Converter (outputs `.DNG` which PhotoScape reads natively), or open the file in PhotoScape X v4.2.1.
4. Microsoft Store Error 0x80073CF9 When Installing PhotoScape X
Cause: Corrupted UWP cache in Windows 10/11.
Fix: Press Win + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter. Or bypass the Store entirely by installing standalone PhotoScape 3.7 Classic from our Download page.
